Campaign graphic for the new ski line Brand & Campaign

My first real studio experience. Over three months as a creative and design intern at Xuma Communications, a Denver ad agency, most of my time went to one account: Peak Skis, Bode Miller's ski company. The brief was to build digital content announcing their new line across social, banner and animation.

SOCIAL
Graphics sized and composed for the brand's feed
CROWDFUNDING
Multiple creative variations for the campaign push
BANNER ADS
Web banner sets built to standard ad placements
3D + MOTION
Built 3D models of the new ski designs and animated them in After Effects
EXISTING ASSETS
Worked from the client's logo, ski artwork, and photography
AGENCY PROCESS
First exposure to concepting, revision rounds, and client delivery
What it taught me

Volume, variation, and a real client on the other end

Agency work meant producing many versions of the same idea and defending which one worked, instead of falling in love with the first comp. It's also where the animation side opened up. Modeling the actual ski graphics in 3D so they could move meant the design and the build were the same job, which is exactly the pattern my event work runs on now.

months inside an agency, on one account, learning how the work actually ships

Peak Skis was where the theory turned practical. I came in knowing the software. I left understanding that a design isn't finished when it looks good. It's finished when it fits the placement, survives the revision round, and the client can actually run it.

The animation work in particular pointed at where I'd end up. Building the skis in 3D to make them move was the first time designing something and constructing it were the same task, which is the entire job in event design.
